Vice President of Human Resources

The Vice President of Human Resources at Elevation Oncology is responsible for leading the human resources function, ensuring that the company attracts, develop and retains and develops top talent to achieve its corporate objectives. Reporting to the CEO, this individual will manage all HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance, while fostering a positive and inclusive culture that supports the company’s remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Leadership:
    • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives.
    • Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to anticipate and proactively plan for workforce needs appropriate to current and future stage and phase.
    • Foster a company culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management:
    • Oversee the recruitment process to attract top-tier talent for key roles.
    • Develop and manage onboarding processes that ensure new employees integrate effectively and quickly into the company.
    • Manage talent development initiatives to retain top performers, including training programs and career development planning.
  • Culture and Employee Engagement:
    • Act as a trusted advisor and problem-solver to managers and employees on HR policies, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
    • Foster a positive, remote work environment ensuring opportunities to enhance employee engagement and connection cross-functionally within the organization.
    • Lead initiatives to support employee engagement, well-being, and inclusivity.
    • Promote the company culture in a virtual environment and at in-person meetings.
  • Performance Management:
    • Design and implement a performance management system that establishes expectations, fosters accountability, supports employee development, and aligns with company goals.
    • Partner with managers to conduct performance reviews and implement employee feedback mechanisms.
  • Compensation and Benefits:
    • Manage competitive Total Rewards programs that align with industry standards and support employee retention.
    • Partner with consultants on salary benchmarking and compensation reviews for non-executive compensation.
    • Design and administer comprehensive benefits and wellness package.
  • HR Policies and Compliance
    • Ensure that all HR policies are compliant with federal, state, and local labor laws, including those specific to the biotech industry.
    • Ensure that all policies and practices reflect the company’s culture and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Organizational Development:
    • Support organizational change and development initiatives, helping the company grow effectively in a dynamic and competitive biotech market.
    • Track HR metrics, including employee turnover, engagement, and productivity, to inform business decisions.
    • Report regularly to the CEO and executive team on key HR initiatives and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; SHRM-SCP or HRCI certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 – 15 years of experience in HR, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
  • Deep knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and talent management strategies.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in managing HR functions in a fast-paced, high-growth publicly traded environment.

  • Proficiency in HR software and systems, including payroll and benefits administration tools.

Working Conditions: Full-time role, fully remote, with occasional travel
